Hello, maybe you can help me. My great-grandfather was from nearby Stokke. I have a document that says his mother was born in Vaglberg, which does not appear to exist.
I see there is a Valberg nearby. Did that used to be called Vaglberg?
I think that your family comes from Valberg in Stokke. Please send me further information (name – year of birth etc) about your grandfathers mother and i will send it on to a genealogist here in Sandefjord and he might do further investigations.
Thank you so much. I didn’t notice the reply until today.
My 2nd great-grandmother was Karen Andrea Pedersdatter, born abt. 1817. Many records say in Stokke, but the photo of her marriage to Peder Poulsen (abt. 1809, Melsomvig, I assume Melsomvik) on 27 Des 1844 says Vaglberg. I tried to attach a photo of the record here, but this does not allow that. Off to the right of the record has a Lars Vaglberg. He could be a witness to the marriage.
Karen and Peder could have had Pouline (abt 1845), Olaus (my great-grandfather, 7 Oct 1856), and Lars (28 Des 1849). Pouline might have married Ole Olsen (abt. 1845), but she disappeared from records. Olaus came to the US about 1886 or 1888. Lars might have married Olava Henriksen in Notteroy in 1875, but he too disappears from records.
Thank you so much for any help. I appreciate it.
